CRITERIA FOR AWARDS

1. Awards are for post high school higher learning

2. For immediate family: this is the member, spouse, children, stepchildren for whom the member is legally responsible, or grandchildren.

3. The member must have been in Local 131 and in good standing for 12 consecutive months prior to the application deadline.

4. The scholarship committee will make all decisions regarding awards of scholarship money. The decisions made by the committee are final.

5. A committee member is not allowed to make decisions concerning any relative of that committee member who is making application.

6. The committee's goal will be to award some money to every eligible applicant to help defray school costs.

7. Awards of money will be consistent with the academic calendar of the institution the student has chosen to attend. A total $10,000.00 maximum for awards per semester. The committee is not required to award all $10,000.00.

8. Any applicant found to have submitted false information or not using the money awarded for its intended purpose is permanently disqualified from receiving future awards.

9. One application per envelope.

10. If previously awarded scholarship money, a CERTIFIED TRANSCRIPT from that awarded quarter or semester MUST BE INCLUDED with the new application. Failure to submit a CERTIFIED TRANSCRIPT may disqualify application.

11. Copy of PAYMENT RECEIPT showing applicant's name for Spring 2008 quarter or semester MUST BE INCLUDED with application.

12. Copy of CLASS SCHEDULE showing applicant's name with number of credited hours for FALL 2007 quarter or semester MUST BE INCLUDED with application.

13. Any application not received completed by the deadline is disqualified.

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS March 28th , 2008 AND MUST BE RECEIVED IN CARPENTERS UNION LOCAL 131 OFFICE NO LATER THAN 5:00 P.M.
